Funny one-liner about the blues

Every dark cloud

Ouch, without a shadow of a doubt, henry and co tore us to shreds whilst enflicting our biggest defeat of the season. It was men against boys, and Arsenal deservedly came away with the 3 points. They are a side in great form and are on the brink of the Champions League semi-final after beating Juve 2-0 in the first leg of the quarter final at Highbury. Good luck to them.

As the title to this post suggests, this is a positive post as I believe every dark cloud has a silver lining. Quite simply, this hammering by arsenal has provided the villa faithful with a clear message.

'Buck up your ideas, or your going down'.

With just 6 games left, Villa still have to face West Brom, Birmingham and the condemned Sunderland. Despite these teams being in the bottom 4 of the premiership, I feel that this is the worst time to face them. The two midlands clubs are fighting to survive, so will be throwing their all at the Villans, and add that to the usual fire that comes with the local derbies, then these games are huge (and heaven forbid, Villa might not be shown last on Match of the Day).

As for Sunderland, i shall remind of Wolverhampton Wanderers singular season in the premiership. They were poor, no chance of staying up, and yet once their relegation was assured they proceeded to take the micky out of some very high profile premiership sides. Sunderland could do the same.

Back to villa, we also have to face Wigan, Man City (and Vassell) and Liverpool. Therefore, with this kick up the backside that Arsenal have provided us, what are Villa going to do?

  1. Whimper, complain and slip away?
  2. Stand up and be counted

I hope the latter, considering the potential that the squad has, and that it is half full of local lads that have come through the system. These players should stand up and fight for premiership status.
Even if we do end up relegated, I (and most fans) would rather go down fighting than with a whimper.
