Man City

Crazy odds - Villa are 8/1 to win 1 - 0, which basically means the odds are against us! Man city have everything to play for (they will go above Manyoo if they win) and we have nothing.

I predict a drubbing - 3 or 4 nil.

Sweet dreams or Reality???

Heard the rumour? Villa are about to be taken over by Property Company Comer Homes Group in a £64m bid.
Both Ellis and major shareholder Jack Petchey have apparently agreed to sell their shares in the club, which makes a combined total of 58%.

It's going to be put to the other major shareholders next week, until then we have to wait and see what happens.
Do you think this is good or bad? I've got mixed feelings. While this may be good for the club in the short term, if we don't spend wisely (like Leeds Utd did), then things could all go pear shaped. Also all this money in football isn't a good thing, its not a game anymore. It's a business.

Bring back the swift pint before a match. Atleast the game was worth paying for to watch back then.

Well we won ..

But I guess most Villa fans are asking "How". If Burnley had a decent strike force they would of trounced us. Angel was off target again, but had most of Villa's chances.

Some (most) of Villa's players' played with a lack of desire, and we seem to like to pass it to Milner alot (alot of cross field balls) Samuel was OK considering how bad he has been, and personally I was impressed with McCann - my motm.

Banish the Home Hoodoo

The Cup competitions weren't good to us last year, crashing out to both Burnley and Sheffield Utd (that hurt especially, because I got ribbed by Katie's dad for ages after). Now, its the battle of claret and blue as we face Burnley tonight at villa park. Although we have been hit hard with injuries, I am confident of a victory. Especially after our weekend defeat to Wigan, I see that as a grounding result after our long overdue victory against the blues. We should now go out, play our own game, and win (2-1 i think).

I'm going tonight, for only my second game of the season (Ticket prices are too high to afford more), and Rich F, Rich J and Rod are coming along too. Probably going to stick a bet on too. Win 2-1 or Phillips first scorer or Both. Pound on each, always put a £3 bet on, though i've found that Ridgewell first scorer to be quite good value, as he is always the target for corners.
See you tonight

My Villa line up for Wigan

GK: Sorensen
DR: Delaney
DL: Barry
DC: Mellberg
DC: Ridgewell
ML: Berger
MC: Davis
MC: Bakke
MR: Milner
FC: Philips
FC: Moore

I've probably missed some injuries and returns - but think it is our strongest squad of fit players. I personally would like to see more of Eric Chumba Wumba ...

What a Bouma!

AVFC reports that Wilfred Bouma is next on the defender injury crisis...

Defensive Cover

Something Villa have a complete lack of. Our defenders are dropping like flys at the moment, and its showing at the moment in the league table as we have the 2nd worst defensive record in the Premiership (only West Brom have shipped more goals than us). Current casualties are
  • Delaney (although he's almost fully fit)
  • Samuel (In my opinion a blessing in disguise)
  • Laursen (Out for the whole season)
  • Cahill (Rookie has a 4 month layoff)

So once again our small squad is being stretched to its limits, and the latest rumour is that Robert Huth could be playing for the claret and blue in january. I say latest, but what I mean is latest time the press have decided to point it out. Its been on the cards for ages really, and with the world cup coming up in the summer, i'm sure Huth would jump at the chance of first team football.
He's meant to be a free-kick specialist too, although i've seen him take a few against us and other clubs. He's good at hitting row-Z.

Wolves 1 Derby 1

I'm lmfao at the moment! Wolves, or to be more precise Cort should have finished that game off before half time. Wolves played well in the first half, but were let down by Soel and Cort - but Kenny Miller was hungry and scored a great goal. Lescott - a possible future Villa player had a solid performance, with Lee Naylor being the second best player on the pitch behind Miller. Anderton did not give the ball away but was far from 100% fit. I did predict bright things for the Wolves this season - but if you can't win bread and butter matches like that - there's no chance.

On another note - Paul Merson was spotted by my Wolves buddy getting pissed on Friday night last week in Mere Green (nr. Sutton Coldfield) - the night before a Walsall game :S Somewhat unsuprising though ...

Villa share prices CRASH...

All in a days work! - From their highest level in 5 yrs to dropping 25p in a day! Wow - must be the "beat bham factor" or those Russians got pissed off with Doug's price...

The Wolves

I unfortunately live in close proximity to the Molineux home to the Wolves. I managed to get to the friendly with Pete only to be drubbed 2 - 1 (could have been alot more + we were lucky to get a goal (Philips brilliance agn!))

Well I'm going the Wolves game tonight too, its Wolves vs Derby (high profile) but I have free tickets :)

Looking forward to seeing Seol - the South Korean wonder striker. He was on fire vs Villa. A great buy - as it can not do to bad for eastern relations and therefore ticket sales. Something I wish the Villa would do - as we are the 20th richest club in the World...

Villa share prices FLY ...

WOW: I've been monitoring Villa share prices since the "takeover" attempt - and this afternoon they have shot up about 17 points (20 points today) - Bring on the Russians :D

Desperate times calls for desperate measures ...

The blues make me laugh, apparantly they've doubled the price for kids to get into St Andrews - I can't believe its a quid to get in now - what a rip off.

Possession Football and MOTD

Maybe the first of a long line of moans, but I have a serious moan about Match of the Day. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to the Blues game (being absolutely SKINT!) but my friend was able to go (She's a blues season ticket holder) and after watching MOTD I wasn't too impressed - but apparantly Villa were playing some sexy football in the first half - none of which (cept the goal) did I see on MOTD - nor the analysis.

I suppose it reflects on our inability to get the final product, but as soon as we do (get some goals from our possession) we will be a force! - Same old story with England really!

villa

wat can i say other than VILA are teh best team in the world!!!!

Little wizard

I think Steven Davis has been an inspiration this year, and he has started getting himself noticed on the european stage now (making england players look like conference players in the recent N Ireland vs Engand game). This does actually concern me a little, because with many premiership clubs crying out for a midfielder of his commitment and quality, it may not be long before he leaves the villa for greener pastures (Namely Arsenal , are missing Patrick Viera and need to up their british contingent).
Hopefully the birmingham derby victory (long overdue) will get our season going, so we can get a run of form together and start challenging for Uefa Cup Qualification like we should be. And with the promise of european football, perhaps we can keep our better players, instead of losing them to other clubs (Solano, Hitzlsperger).

Up the Villa

For the people

Maybe this is how Villa fans should behave, but at the moment - I'm ecstatic at beating the Blues - but I don't want to rub it in - as it feels so bad when someone rubs salt into the wounds.

I know there are some other blogs out there for the Villa, but I find them to have a London slant on them with a select number of contributers who have dedicated passion of hatred against some players and staff (lol, although I sometimes agree.)
